part IX: Week Five Power Rankings

There's no change to this week's Conference Power Rankings as far as conference order goes, but there are major shake ups within each conference. Most notable in the #1 SEC (average team ranking of 28.6) is that all 14 teams are now in the top 100 with Missouri steadily improving. Texas A&M is trending up while Vanderbilt is trending down after the Aggies took two out of three from the Commodores last weekend.

Neck-in-neck, the #2 Pac-12 (48.0) and #3 Big XII (49.1) continue to vie for the second spot behind the SEC. As Arizona State keeps winning, the top of the Pac-12 is looking stronger and stronger. In the Massey Composite Rankings, the Pac-12 has four of the top five teams! The conference is currently looking like a 6+ bid league. In the Big XII, Baylor continues to slide while Oklahoma rises. Texas Tech remains on top despite losing two out of three to Texas last weekend. The computer polls have a favorable view of the Red Raiders.

Standing pat at #4, the ACC (65.1) has a new top team after NC State's series win over Florida State. At the bottom of the conference, Notre Dame rose over 50 spots in the rankings, bolstered by their series win at Clemson. Meanwhile, Virginia continues to slide. The #5 Mountain West (81.9) continues to be the conference with the most parity, as all seven teams are within 60 spots of each other.
