Week Eight Composite top 25
For the first time all year, there is a unanimous number one team in the country in #1 UCLA. After taking two out of three against Stanford on the road, the Bruins solidified their spot atop all major polls. Moving up five spots is #2 Georgia who took two out of three against Vanderbilt. Winning their series against Boston College, #3 North Carolina State stands pat with their ranking, while #4 Oregon State slides up one spot after sweeping Utah. #5 Stanford rounds out the top five; they fall three spots after losing at home to UCLA.
The next four spots in the rankings all belong to the SEC, as the conference can claim half of the top ten. Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, LSU, and Arkansas are numbers 6-9 in this week's top 25. #10 East Carolina is the highest ranked mid-major team, coming out of the American. The Pirates have won an impressive 12 of their last 13 games.
#11 Texas A&M and #12 Arizona State both fall out of the top ten after losing conference series on the road. The Aggies fell to LSU, and the Sun Devils dropped two out of three to USC. Texas Tech, Ole Miss, and Clemson finish out the top 15. The Tigers move up five spots after winning their series against Louisville.
Texas, UC Irvine, Louisville, UC Santa Barbara, and Georgia Tech come in at numbers 16-20. UCI and UCSB are part of six teams west of the Rocky Mountains that are ranked this week. Georgia Tech was the biggest riser this week. They shot up ten spots after taking two games against North Carolina. Georgia Tech has an impressive 9-6 record against top 50 RPI opponents. North Carolina, Auburn, TCU, Baylor, and Coastal Carolina conclude the top 25.
The next teams receiving votes are Michigan, Florida Atlantic, and Connecticut.
